Hello people,

When we started organizing yesterday's AOW event, which was a great success, we were thinking about Staff Evenings/Nights for Renegade after this event to get the server running better. Though, when I saw the Tiberian Tuesdays thread in General Chat lately, we had the idea to start a different kind of recurring event. After all, we're not just a Renegade community, but we run multiple games, though not everyone has tried the games yet, or didn't like the idea of it and never played it, even though we support various free games which nearly everyone should be capable of running.

So, we came up with a plan and designed a different schedule every week to play various games on various days. To not crowd the schedule too much, we have designed a 3 week schedule with variety in games and emptyness between dates to keep the events fun and not too busy. For every event we advise to use TeamSpeak3, it makes the event a lot more fun and is great for communicating. An extensive TS3 tutorial will be up later today or tomorrow in the Tech Chat.

There won't be any sign-up lists. Everyone who wants to hop in, hops in. We will put a lot of reminders everywhere though, so you won't miss anything. :)

If you don't understand what I am talking about, then here's the schedule and a breakdown of the events that should help you to understand the setup a bit better:

Gaming Schedule

Weeks 1, 4, 7, 10, ...
AssaultCube Monday - 8 PM GMT
TeeWorlds Thursday - 8 PM GMT
Renegade Saturday - 8 PM GMT

Weeks 2, 5, 8, 11, ...
Renegade-X Wednesday - 8 PM GMT
Renegade Saturday - 8 PM GMT
Serious Sam Sunday - 8 PM GMT

Weeks 3, 6, 9, 12, ...
Tiberian Tuesday - 8 PM GMT
Community's Pick Friday - 8 PM GMT
Renegade Saturday - 8 PM GMT

AssaultCube Monday

Assault Cube is a counterstrike like game where you run around and shoot people. It has average graphics but good gameplay. The game is free and can run on almost every computer. It uses minimal resources and even works with a slow internet connection.

It's also a very fair game. It's not like games where you need to know every map very well, so you know where the most powerful weapon spawns. Here YOU select the weapon you want, whenever you want (if the game mode allows you to do so).
All players have a default set of weapons: a knife and a pistol. Then you have your primary weapon, that you can select from 4, at anytime by accessing the ingame menu or by pressing 'b'. Select your new weapon and then, next time you spawn, you'll have it. Throughout the maps, you can find ammo boxes which can give you a share of ammo for your main weapon, ammo clips for you pistol, healthpacks to recover health, armor jackets to gain armor and the dual-pistols, which will give you, for a limited amount of time, the dual-pistol weapon, which is a powerful weapon, but not THAT powerful if your aim sucks. You can also find grenades around. To use them you can use the default key, right mouse button, and then throw them by using the left mouse button.

Another thing I don't like in other games, is camping. Here it's harder to camp, as your ammo is very limited, so you need to go around to pickup the ammo boxes, and also it's not hard to kill campers.

AssaultCube can be downloaded for free at http://assault.cubers.net/

Tiberian Tuesday

In honour of the original plan by Mr. Scary, the plan for Tiberian Tuesday is to play one of the older games of C&C. Which one that will be shall be polled 5-7 before it's on so we have plenty of time to prepare and test the copies. The games are sometimes a bit dodgy to play online, so tutorials shall be written and will be posted in the Tech Chat section.

More info about Tiberian Tuesday shall be given when the event is going to commence.

Renegade-X Wednesday

On wednesday, the plan is to play a few good games of Renegade-X. Renegade-X is a mod for UT3 where Renegade is remade on the engine on UT3. The result? Better physics, better graphics, better gameplay and less bugs and glitches. It has had a rough start but most of the bugs are gone now. Renegade-X is a great mod and will be very fun to play with everyone.

You can download Renegade-X at http://www.renegade-x.com
Renegade-X requires UT3 which can be purchased at STEAM: http://store.steampo....com/app/13210/

TeeWorlds Thursday

In TeeWorlds, your rappel hook is your best friend. TeeWorlds can be described best as a combination of Kirby and Spiderman. Yes, that's right. Kirby and Spiderman. Teeworlds is a free online multiplayer game, available for all major operating systems. Battle with up to 16 players in a variety of game modes, including Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag.

For more information about TeeWorlds, check out the TeeWorlds Website. And when you're there, you might aswell download it in the meantime. :)

Community Pick Friday

During this event, YOU pick what game will be played. This can be anything from Pong to Modern Warfare 2, the choices are endless! The polling for this will be started one week before the event will commence.

Because of the nature of this event, I can't give any more information. ;)

Renegade Saturday

Most of us will know Renegade as this is where the community originated from. I think the best way to demonstrate this is with one of Tellsson's video's, which shows some good aspects of Renegade, teamwork, multiple classes, buildings to destroy, defending and attacking and many more.

*If there is a community match on the same saturday, this means that the community match will be played first with everyone, which already consists of great Teamwork and is fun to play. After that, you can hop into the AOW1 server to play some more relaxing matches*

Serious Sam Sunday

I love this game. I already own all the past titles and I still bought this on steam because of the improved engine and graphics, which makes it an eyecandy (this is the first game of the series from 2001 ported to their new engine).

The gameplay is as simple as those old games such as Doom and Duke Nukem, if you liked them then you'll love this. If you're too young to have played them then you can compare it to Painkiller.
It's basically a no-brainer FPS shooter (but you can play in 3rd person too), with tons of monsters at the same time on screen and an amazingly adrenalinic action (sorry if some of the words I use are made up lol, cba checking them on a translator). With that I don't mean it's easy, it actually requires a damn good skill level to face all those enemies at once, and it's not really an amateur game (unless you lower difficulty, of course).

If you're bored of all the modern games which puts efforts on storyline and plot but not much on gameplay and action, then you'll love this as much as I do.

The game is packed of serious fun not only because of the action, but because of lots of things are made to be just hilarious and not serious at all.

SECRETS! Yep, if you like exploring maps to find hidden spots and weapons, then this game will keep you busy for long. Every map has a lot of secrets spread around, all fun to find and some are fun for what they'll give you...and I don't want to ruin the surprise so I won't make examples. You can look at how many secrets are on a map anytime, through a built-in personal computer that analyzes maps, enemies and weapons and gives you detailed info about them all.

The single-player campaign is long enough to keep you busy for longer than the average modern shooter (I suggest you to play it at hard), and if you want to find all secrets then it will last even longer.

On the multi-player front it's not that big right now. You can play cooperative games online with lots of other players at once, but it only supports locally-hosted games for now (so all servers you'll see are hosted on people's computers via the ingame "start server" menu).
It's kinda fun, though. If you manage to find a player with a good connection you can have lots of fun, as you can play the whole campaign with friends (works on LAN too).

Croteam, the developers team behind this game, are known to support the community very well, and they promised a dedicated server soon, released with a steam update, and a new multiplayer mode: Deathmatch. And just FYI, this team is not made of n00bs. They always developed their own technologies (like 3d engines and physics engine), and actually parts of their stuff is used on other engines, like the Unreal Tournament 3 one.

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter can be purchased on STEAM - http://store.steampo....com/app/41000/
(Tip: If you're smart, find 3 others and get a 4pack, that saves you some cash ;))

I won't be able to make it some of those days due to the time of day, im getting ready for work at that time.

but i really like the direction this is heading. For those that were involved with saturday's/sunday's renegade games, it went extremely well, and i encourage those of you who can make it to join in the fun.

Tiberian Tuesday's are gonna be great fun, as prulez said, some of them can be troublesome to get functioning, but they all can work 100% with the right tricks.
For those of you that will be participating in tiberian tuesday's and need help installing any of the classics and/or getting them to work. Please don't hestitate to pm me, i have all of them working on my machine, and would love to help others to get their's running :)

I'm gutted I missed this saturday just gone, Renegade event, but I'm very glad that this multi gaming event schedule has been drawn up
with great thought, well done Prulez, I and many others will appreciate.

I have not been very active as I would like to be, as atm I'm having either to go to a library or go round my friends house to log on here or play games
online, which I haven't played a game since last year tbh, once things settle down at my own & new aboad, I can get my very own Internet connection
and join in the fun here at ExodusB)
