[kermit]

I just joined your co-op server and was banned almost instantly. No reason or explanation was given.
I don't even know who banned me. This is pretty stupid imo, since I've played on your server before with no problems. Can an admin unban me, and ask the mod in question wtf they were doing?
To save time, yes I use 4.0, no I don't cheat, and yes, I'd like the mod to explain themselves.

if you would of read the ban section, you would have likely seen the thread which very nicely indicates that you should provide any info you can on the ban.

such as: banned nickname, ban reason/date and by who

I never called anyone stupid, I was referring to the situation being stupid, as in I join a game and get insta banned for no reason.

I also said I had just joined the server, so the ban happened about 5 min before I posted, although you have a point I should've been precise.

Also, I specified that I didn't know who banned me (or why) in my original post.

I stated my account name (kermittf6) in the 2nd line from the bottom of my original post aswell. Above the 'thanks'.

As for me being 'bitchy', well thats a subjective thing, but if I offended you then I apologise.

I moved this topic to the correct section. That's quite some attitude you bring here. Have you considered this could be a bug? Truly you should understand that an in intro like that, demanding someone explain themselves to you, is likely not to digest well with people in this community. Our servers are a courtesy to the public, not an obligation.

As for your ban; I've seen two moderators check the ban logs. We don't see any bans on your nickname or your IP. We're going to need more information. What does the ban message say? Are you not just suffering from WOLbug? (not sure if that's still around, but if so it will say "you are banned from this channel."

i understand your annoyewd about the ban. But please understand we want to help you as we like people playing on our servers. But when someones banned, its eithe because they cheated and we banned them or its a bug. Pretty simple.

As i stated, we couldnt find any info on your name. It has to say something when your banned, either a reason or simple you are banned from this channel. if its the latter, then try joining under a different nick.

Actually I do recall a nickname/user(s) yesterday being auto-kicked from the server about seven times. I was taking screenshots of the IRC log of a conversation, and I noticed later that a few users got kicked instantly after joining. I was suspicious about why, but assumed it was a glitch kind of thing (I get auto-kicked from the server seconds after joining if my nickname is too long). This might be the same incident we're talking about.

I have a few hunches on what time this might have happened, I'll be checking my IRC logs right now and will see what I can find.


EDIT: Will edit this sentence if I find any info/logs of kicks. Check this later and see if any of those nicks were yours kermit.

Found it! Here is the logs below that I'm talking about. I've highlighted the lines where players got kicked. Were any of those users you kermit? (I know your account is kermittf6, but I'm guessing maybe you were joining with other nicknames? I'm able to do that through RenIP, not sure if you use a similar program.)

After more log-searching (through my local IRC logs, not the official server logs), I found the times you were last playing on the server (without being kicked), and I found the logs where you were kicked. (There was no moderator/admin that issued the kick command according to the logs I see, you would have seen something like !kick or !qkick, but from what I see, it looks like the server kicked you for some auto-reason. That's what we have to figure out.)

From this I can confirm that you WERE kicked at some point today/yesterday, (It's not clear whether it was a ban at this point) but there isn't a clear reason why. That's what we need to find out, and I ask if any moderators know about this now that I've provided extra logs.

This makes sense. We have an ISP ban system in place to hard ban players like mandai and chiefpower. It was recently updated to include the last known ISP of chiefpower. Apparently you and the above players are tagged with the same hostname. One of those names is quite possibly him though; paranoyeSkillz <- same state (Quebec) and same city (Montreal area). I will update the ban system to exclude your ISP and the other player.

On a different note, TNais, I am editing your post to hide the IPs of people due to privacy protection. Please take no offense.

EDIT: there was a second post, edited the IPs out of it too.

EDIT2: It's a negative on paranoyeSkillz <- not ChiefPower.

Ah sorry about posting the IP addresses, I can imagine that must've been a pain to go through and edit out -- I was going to think about cutting those out myself, but in the end I decided not to ask. =( In the future should I censor the IP addresses too? (I realized now that it doesn't need to be shown here right? Once a log is posted with enough info to do a server-log search, IP address being posted on the forums isn't needed?)

Our policy is to protect privacy by at least XXing out the last digits of the IP, but best to just X them all to prevent bad karma. It was easy to edit btw, just ctrl + F then search for "IP:" and remove the numbers after

I just tried (about 10 min ago) to join the server, and I can play again.

I know I probably came off sounding like a jackass; thats just the kind of person I am.
Not trying to make an excuse, just an explanation.

Someone wrongfully banned me on another server a few days before, and I had to go through a long song-and-dance to get myself unbanned again, which annoyed me.

For the record, you will find many servers have ISP range bans such as the one you were caught up in as their are several people that have no life and continue to attempt to bypass bans to wreck gameplay for others. Fortunately these people arent very smart and a realtively simple range ban prevents them from annoying us. Somrtimes innocent players get caught up in the range and as you can see, we will gladly do whatever we can to help fix it, as do other servers.

However I hope you understand that no one is at fault here, it is just an unfortunate circumstance. We can only do what we can to make the game the best experience for all our users.

Anyways, thanks for confirming that things have been resolved ban-wise for the co-op server. As for your possible 'rude-ness' or 'jerk-ness', I'll leave that to the comments the other Exodus folks have shared around that -- I did have a hunch on what you were really trying to say though, because I certainly remember how I auto-kicked/banned myself from the server once... and the way you described being kicked from the server in your first post sounded similar to what I've experienced -- so I took a guess that it might be something that I could try to investigate a little more for ye.

See you around in-game sometime I hope, I hate competitive PvP game modes, so co-op (human vs AI only) is mah home turf, y'all hear?
