It should be noted that what was released is still a beta, just an open one, so the game is technically still not released, and in fact there's quite some little things to fix before considering it the final product.
I can really bear with any one of them, though, but I was really disappointed by some of the new additions, like the air strike and a new building type that, when taken, allows the team to gather more credits, or that's what I heard because I only could play a map with bots so far. I just hope you can disable such things in your server options.
On the other hand, the bots are amazing, and although they can surely get better, they're still a million times better than the original renegade, which could likely be used for a much better coop experience.
They don't just lock on your head and shoot, but they miss like humans. Also, they seem to be aware of their surroundings and of the game tactics, so you'll see them purchasing vehicles and driving them to the field, purchase an engineer and go to field to repair vehicles, attack enemy buildings and so on.
In fact, the little match I had with bots was like playing with people with a sufficient experience in Renegade, and was enjoyable for what they're needed for: try the Renegade experience.
The developers seem to listen to valid complaints and are working to fix all problems, so I'm sure this will get better soon, and so far I'm really impressed by the work done since the last multiplayer version that was released years ago, which was all but renegade. They have tweaked everything to make it feel as close as possible to Renegade, and despite it's still lacking a good number of configuration options to make it play like the real thing (like freeaim, in-game menu, ...), I'm sure they'll be able to do it in the near future.
A downside of this is also that the original Renegade is suffering from a lack of players, that are likely playing RenX right now. Although purists may get back (or never left), chances are that the newbies will not, but we'll see.
